Being one of my favourite print designers, I was keen to see Katrantzou’s display at LFW this autumn. I was mainly drawn to the intensity of colour with the graphic style prints. It was also interesting to see the bold prints with the embroidery that covered the dresses in the collection. It has been really influential when considering composition and colour schemes in my own practice that I cannot wait to explore in my second semester this year. I also will consider the role of colour in more detail when creating a collection in relation to the market and end product.

Now that London Fashion Week has come to an end, I am able to pick out a few highlights of the shows and the designers I grew fond or even fonder of! Key trends became more apparent including lots of Mediterranean colours which were apparent in Topshop’s unique ss14 collection, these included deep turquoises and royal blues. These were really daintily bold. A key trend of ss13 has been extended to aw13 too, this being monochrome which designers were accentuating on. This is one of my personal favourites. I have also become familiar with designers such as Eudon Choi, whose ss14 mixed the idea of structure and femininity, it explored very natural prints alongside quite architectural forms. photos from: http://www.londonfashionweek.co.uk/designers_profile.aspx?DesignerID=1565
